A team from the Center for Microelectromechanical Systems (CMEMS) at the UMinho School of Engineering develops a promising technology to enhance the removal of brain tumors.
The team, led by researcher Hugo Dinis, is responsible for developing a light-based ultrasound system for tumor resections. This technology promises to provide neurosurgeons with greater vision and precision to remove the tumor in its entirety, without changing the protocol. The team has already carried out the proof of concept for the fundamental technology, having been one of the winners of the competition financed by TecMinho – iProof.
